Moisturize Your Face 'Cause Baby It's Cold Outside - 10 Tips For Winter Skin Care

It's snowing. The wind is blowing. Humidity is dry, dry, dry! And baby- it's cold outside. So which part of winter wear:
your body is always exposed when you go out in the weather? We bundle up our bodies, our hands, our legs, and our feet. But we have to literally "face" the weather when we go outside. We come in from the cold, and our lips are chapped, and our face is red, raw, dry and sensitive. So what can we do? Here are ten suggestions to care for your skin and protect it from

Moisturize. This is one of the most important things you can do in the winter.
Use the thicker oil-based moisturizers in the winter. The extra water in water-based moisturizes expose your skin by trying to freeze while you are outside. Save them for summer. But for winter, the oilier moisturizers are better.

While bathing or washing your face, use tepid, rather than hot water. Hot water draws out moisture, while cool water awakens your skin.
Apply moisturizer immediately after you wash your face while it is still wet.
Add the healing essential oils of myrrh or sandalwood to your moisturizer. These essential oils are particularly good to use in night creams. The thick essential oils are great to apply at night.

Snow reflects sun, so use sunscreen while you are outside. Use sunscreen or makeup with SPF 15 to 30. Sun ages your skin and, added to the winter weather, gives your skin a double whammy.
Protect your lips with lip balm. Make a conscious effort to avoid licking or biting your lips while out in the weather.
Run a humidifier inside your house to keep moisture in the air. Dry air depletes moisture from the skin.

The best thing you can do to hydrate your skin is to drink water. Drink plenty of water.
Take a holistic approach to winter. Think about how it affects you physically, mentally and spiritually and then find an approach that addresses each part.
